Current Week’s Mileage Goal – 65 miles
Next Race – 2 mile on Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ University of Chicago (Ted Haydon Holiday Classic) in Chicago , IL

AM - 6 miles @ 6:10 mile pace (37:00). I decided to run this on the treadmill as well. Again, with it being below zero wind chills it is 100% no fun running outside and it just isn't conducive to running fast either. In fact, you can put yourself in position to pull or strain something when trying to run fast when your not very warmed up yet. I ended up running 36:41 for this run which is 6:07 mile pace.
PM -
2 mile warm up @ 6:30 mile pace (13:00).
6 x 600m @ 1:43.5 (69 second 400m pace) w/ 400m jog starting every 3:39
400m @ 65 seconds
Here are my exact splits:
600m #1 - 1:44.1
600m #2 - 1:43.6
600m #3 - 1:43.9
600m #4 - 1:45.1
600m #5 - 1:44.4
600m #6 - 1:43.6
400m - 65.3
2 mile cool down @ 6:30 mile pace (13:00) on treadmill.
We did this workout at the indoor track at DePaul University (Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL). This was an interesting track, it's on the 4th floor of the campus's huge Recreation Center and it's three lanes and banked as well. It is not the traditional shape of an indoor track. It is much more oval than circle meaning the turns are very tight. Looking back on this workout, I think the tight turns were enough to slow me down where I was just off tenths of seconds. I was happy with my workout though, it was a good effort and I am feeling more ready to kick some ass on Saturday.
Total for the day = 14 miles
